Coolant filters

Something is bubbling in the radiator...
Engines produced nowadays generate more heat, which increases the load on cooling systems. Engine failures are often related to their being overheated.

Inefficient working of the cooling system leads to:

• the settling of limescale on the system’s elements,
• cavitation on the blades of a water pump impeller,
• cavitation on cylinders’ sleeves,
• faulty functioning of a thermostat.

From experience, efficient cooling is as important for an engine as efficient greasing. Temperatures in diesel engines reach up to 2000ºC, and 1/3 of the created thermal energy is carried away via the cooling system. The only way to prevent failures of an engine that result from overheating is maintaining the cooling system in a very good condition, just as it was when it was new.

Fleetguard does so by combining mechanical and chemical filtration; it is a leader in the area of protecting cooling systems. The users of diesel engines are offered a full range of filters that combine the effectiveness of chemical protection with mechanical filtration. Filters for coolants contain some DCA in the form of granules, which, when dissolving in coolant, provide additional chemical protection. Every 4 out of 5 coolant filters used across the world nowadays come from Fleetguard.

A filter in a cooling system is necessary because water is only one of the sources of contamination, which has to be filtered out as it is indispensable to ensure long-term, correct performance.
